Warm up to trends for spring

Finally it feels like spring. Not that anyone needed 73-degree weather to break out lightweight clothes, peep-toe shoes, flip-flops and shorts. Plenty of people insisted on embracing warm-weather dressing even if it meant putting up with goosebumps or cranking up the car’s heater.

No more. Now those sheer feminine blouses look and feel right. City shorts and strappy sandals have found their places in the sun. White reigns.

Let’s revisit a few key looks this season from the spring trends story:

→Ruffles and bows. Spring doesn’t scream all-out femininity, but little touches show up on blouses, dresses and shoes. Go outrageous with layers of ruffles or take a more subtle approach with a skinny belt with a bow clasp.

→Gladiators. This style was popular last summer; a year later, it’s gaining even more ground. Flats always are a good choice, but if you want to add a different style to your wardrobe, reach for towering chunky heels, skinny heels and wedges.

→Nude hues. Bright colors continue to be the talk of the season, but soothing shades of cream, beige and taupe offer a pleasing change of pace.

→Flower power. Big or little, bold color or sophisticated black and white, florals look fresh.

→Statement accessories. Think jewelry on steroids. Necklaces are as big as bibs. Cuff bracelets measure up to 3 inches wide, or stack several to achieve the same look.

→”Maxi-mize” your dress. Women love the maxi dress because it’s comfortable and versatile. Pair it with a cardigan for work. Slip on flip-flops for a casual dinner. No fuss dressing at its best.
